What is Seaman Swim?
Seaman Swim is a men's swimwear brand making premium swim briefs in two cuts — the Statement and the Essential. Both are low-rise, contoured, bikini-cut briefs, $79.95, sizes S–XL, in eight colors. Gay-owned, and built for pools, beaches, vacations and anywhere worth being seen.

What is a swim brief?
A swim brief is the classic minimal men's swimsuit — a fitted, high-leg cut with no leg length, sometimes called a bikini brief or, incorrectly, a Speedo. It dries faster than anything else you can swim in, because there is less of it.

What is a Speedo?
Speedo is a brand — an Australian swimwear company founded in 1928 that became so dominant in competitive swimming that its name turned into shorthand for the style. The style itself is a swim brief. Every Speedo brief is a swim brief; most swim briefs are not Speedos. The full difference.

Can I actually swim in these?
Yes — that is what they are for. Minimal drag, nothing that shifts when you push off, and the fastest-drying cut there is. They just happen to look good out of the water too.

I have never worn a swim brief. Is this for me?
Almost certainly. Most men who think a brief does not suit them have worn one a size too big — it sagged, it looked wrong, and they blamed the cut. Go true to size. If you want to ease in, the Statement has the slightly fuller cut of the two.

Choosing

Which should I buy — the Statement or the Essential?
Both are low-rise contoured bikini cuts, both $79.95, both sized S–XL. The Statement is the ombré one — a gradient that shifts as you move, front-lined, in Gray, Blue, Green and Red. The Essential is solid-colored, cut a little cheekier, and lined front and back, in Arctic Blue, Sage, Mustard and Clay. Buy the Statement to turn heads. Buy the Essential if you want the one you reach for every time.

Which has more coverage at the back?
The Statement. Both briefs are low-rise and sit across the hips, so the rise is the same on each — the difference is the cut. The Statement has a fuller cut through the seat. The Essential is cheekier and shows more at the back. Worth knowing the trade-off: the Statement is lined at the front, the Essential is lined front and back.

What is the difference between a swim brief and a bikini brief?
Side width. A bikini brief is cut narrower at the hip, so there is less fabric between the waistband and your leg. A swim brief sits a little fuller. Ours land between the two — a contoured bikini cut. There is a full comparison here.

What is a good alternative to a Speedo?
Speedo is a brand; a swim brief is the cut. If you want the brief silhouette without the racing look, that is exactly what we make — same basic shape, cut and finished for the beach rather than the blocks. More on the difference.

What color should I pick?
Warm tones — Clay, Mustard, Sage — flatter most skin. Cool blues and grays read sharper. Clay is the most forgiving if it is your first brief. We broke it down color by color and skin tone.

Do you have solid colors?
Yes — the Essential comes in four solids: Arctic Blue, Sage, Mustard and Clay. The Statement is the ombré one, with a gradient that shifts as you move, in Gray, Blue, Green and Red.

Is the Essential in stock?
Stock moves by color and size. Live availability for every variant is on the Essential product page — pick your color and the sizes still available will show.

Sizing

What sizes do you carry?
S through XL in both the Statement and the Essential.

How does the Statement Brief fit?
The Statement Brief runs true to size. We recommend ordering your standard waist size. If you are between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit or size down for a snugger, more supportive feel.

How should a men's swim brief fit?
Snug and still. Flat at the waistband, supported at the front, hugging the top of the thigh without cutting in. If you are adjusting it in the first thirty seconds, that is the wrong cut or the wrong size. Full fit guide here.

Are swim briefs supposed to be tight?
Snug, not tight. A brief should sit close and stay still without digging in or leaving marks. If you can feel it working, it is too small. If you can feel it moving, it is too big. The inner drawstrings let you fine-tune the waist.

Are your briefs low rise? How low?
Both cuts are low rise — the waistband sits below the hip bones, an inch or two under where your jeans land. That is what lengthens the torso and the leg line. Neither is a mid rise. Low rise versus mid rise, explained.

Are they cheeky?
The Essential is the cheekier of the two — higher cut at the back, showing a little more. The Statement has a slightly fuller cut through the seat. Both are contoured and low on the hip.

What are the waist measurements for each size?
S: 28–30 inches
M: 31–33 inches
L: 34–36 inches
XL: 37–39 inches

Fabric & Construction

What fabric is the Statement Brief made from?
80% nylon and 20% spandex, quick-drying with stretch recovery. It holds its shape and color across a full season of use.

What fabric is the Essential made from?
82% nylon and 18% spandex, with a 100% mesh lining front and back. Quick-drying and chlorine resistant.

Is it lined?
The Statement Brief is front-lined for support and coverage. The Essential is lined front and back with breathable mesh.

Are they see-through when wet?
No. Wet or dry, nothing shows, from every angle. The Essential is lined front and back. The Statement is lined at the front and the fabric handles the rest.

Does it have drawstrings?
Yes — both cuts have hidden internal drawstrings so the brief stays exactly where you want it.

Care

How do I care for my brief?
Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after each use. Hand wash with mild soap in cold water. Lay flat or hang to dry in the shade. Do not machine dry — heat breaks down the elastic. See our full care guide in The Seaman Report.

Shipping

How long does shipping take?
Orders ship within 1–2 business days. Standard domestic delivery takes 3–5 business days. International delivery is usually 5–10 business days depending on the destination. You will receive a tracking number once your order ships.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International shipping is available at checkout to Australia, Brazil, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom. Rates are calculated at checkout.

Will I pay customs or duties?
International orders may be subject to import duties or taxes set by your country. Those are charged by your local customs office, not by us, and are not included in your checkout total.

How much is shipping?
Free on US orders over $100. Under that, $6 flat. International rates are calculated at checkout based on your destination.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Items need to be unwashed with the original tags still attached, and trying something on indoors is fine. Anything that has been worn in the water cannot be returned. Final sale items are not eligible for return.

How do I start a return or exchange?
Email info@seamanswim.com with your order number and we will take it from there. If the size is the issue, say which size you want instead and we will swap it rather than refund it. Full terms are on our Returns & Exchanges page.

What if my item arrived damaged or incorrect?
That is on us, not you. Email info@seamanswim.com and we will send the right one out plus a prepaid label for the return. You will not pay shipping either way.

What if a seam or the waistband fails?
If a manufacturing fault shows up within 30 days of delivery — a seam giving way, the lining separating, the waistband failing — we will replace it or refund you, your choice. Email info@seamanswim.com with your order number and a photo. Normal wear is different: fading and chlorine damage over time are not faults.

Any current offer appears in the banner at the top of the site and applies at checkout. One code per order — discounts do not stack.
