# Gay Swimwear for Men

Gay-owned · Two cuts · Eight colorways · $79.95

Both briefs were patterned for gay men from the first sample, not adapted for the community afterward. The rise, the back coverage and the front structure were all decisions, not defaults.

## Start here: louder or quieter

Same low rise, same fabric, same price, same sizes. The only question is how much attention you are asking for.

### The Seaman Statement

The louder one.

An ombre gradient that shifts as you move, so it reads different in the water than it does on the deck. Front-lined.

### The Essential

The quieter one.

Solid matte color, cheekier at the back, fully lined front and back. Easier to pair with everything else you own.

## Designed for gay men, not adapted for them

Most brands pattern for a broad market and assume gay men will find something in it. Three decisions here were made the other way round.

- **The rise was decided, not inherited.** It sits across the hips, clearly below the navel, on a flat band of the same fabric so it holds that line instead of rolling. A brief that only looks low because it is too small fits nobody.
- **The back frames rather than hides.** The leg line is cut higher so more of the glute is visible, with the front keeping full contoured coverage. That is what separates it from a thong.
- **The front panel is cut and sewn, then lined.** Shaped as its own piece so it holds structure wet or dry. A flat panel seamed straight across the front collapses the moment you get out of the water.

## Sizing

We go by waist measurement rather than scaling a generic S, M, L. On a low rise cut an inch changes where the band sits, so it matters more here than it does on trunks.

Measure your waist and check the [size guide](/pages/size-guide) before you order. The inner drawstring gives you a little margin either way, and between sizes you should size up.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**What makes this gay swimwear different from a regular men's swim brief?**
The cut is intentional rather than incidental. The low rise, the lined contoured front and the reduced back coverage were decisions made for how gay men want to look, not compromises inherited from a generic pattern. Seaman Swim is gay-owned and designs for this community first.

**Which cut should I buy?**
The Statement is the louder one, an ombre gradient in Gray, Blue, Green or Red. The Essential is the quieter one, a solid in Arctic Blue, Sage, Mustard or Clay, cut cheekier at the back and lined front and back. If it is your first one and you want to wear it everywhere, take the Essential.

**How much coverage is there at the back?**
Confident but wearable on both. Not a thong, not a full square cut. Closer to a European brief, with the leg line cut high enough to shape the leg.

**Is the sizing different from standard swimwear sizing?**
We size on waist measurement, not a letter-size guess. Measure before ordering and size up if you are between.

**Can I actually swim in these?**
Yes. Both have inner drawstrings and hold their shape in water. The Essential is the one to reach for if you are in a pool several times a week.

**How many colors are there in total?**
Eight across the two cuts, four ombre and four solid. Stock moves at different speeds by color, so check the product page for what is live.

**Do you ship internationally?**
Yes, international shipping is available at checkout. International orders may incur local taxes or duties, which are the customer's responsibility and not collected by Seaman Swim.
