# Designer Men's Swim Briefs

Designer · Two cuts · Eight colorways · $79.95

Designer is a word anyone can print on a label. Here is what it means on ours, in enough detail that you can hold it against whatever else you are looking at.

## Start here: what makes a brief designer

Three things separate a considered brief from a cheap one, and none of them show up in a product photo.

- **Stretch recovery, not just stretch.** A cheap brief stretches once and stays stretched. An 80% nylon and 20% spandex blend with recovery returns to shape after every wear, which is why it still fits in September.
- **A lined front panel that is cut and sewn.** Shaped as its own piece and stitched in, so it holds structure wet or dry. A flat panel seamed straight across the front collapses the moment you get out of the water.
- **Rise that was decided, not inherited.** It sits across the hips on a flat band of the same fabric, so it holds that line rather than rolling. A brief that only looks low because it is too small fits nobody.

## Pick your cut

Same fabric, same construction, same price, same sizes. The only difference is the finish and how much is showing at the back.

### The Seaman Statement

Ombre finish.

A gradient that shifts as you move, so it reads different in the water than it does on the deck. Fuller at the back. Front-lined.

## Sizing

We go by waist measurement rather than scaling a generic S, M, L. On a low rise cut an inch changes where the band sits, so it matters more here than it does on trunks.

Measure your waist and check the [size guide](/pages/size-guide) before you order. The inner drawstring gives you a little margin either way, and between sizes you should size up.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**What makes this designer men's swimwear worth $79.95?**
The recovery in the 80/20 nylon and spandex blend, a lined front panel that is cut and sewn as its own piece rather than seamed flat, and finished inner drawstrings. Those three are what fail first on a cheaper brief, and they are what you are paying for here.

**Is there any difference in quality between the two cuts?**
No. Same fabric, same weight, same construction, same price. The difference is the finish and the back coverage.

**Will it hold its shape after a season of pool days?**
That is what the stretch recovery is for. It holds up in chlorinated water, dries fast, and returns to shape rather than staying stretched out.

**How low is the low rise?**
It sits across the hips, clearly below the navel, on a flat band of the same fabric. Low enough to be deliberate, not so low it stops being wearable.

**How many colors are there in total?**
Eight across the two cuts, four ombre and four solid. Stock moves at different speeds by color, so check the product page for what is live.

**What sizes do you carry?**
S through XL, sized on waist measurement, with the fit scaling proportionally rather than a generic grade.

**Do you ship internationally?**
Yes, international shipping is available at checkout. International orders may incur local taxes or duties, which are the customer's responsibility and not collected by Seaman Swim.
