# Which Seaman Swim Brief Suits Your Style

**By Seaman Swim** · 2026-10-02

**The short version.**

- Your body isn’t the problem. Wear the brief.
- **Essential** is cheekier. **Statement** gives you a little more coverage.
- Both are low rise, contoured, fully lined, and made to move.
- Both are **$79.95**.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: you don’t need a certain body type to wear a swim brief.

At Seaman Swim, we’re less interested in telling you what you _should_ wear and more interested in giving you options that make you feel good wearing it.

So the real question isn’t whether a brief works on your body.

It’s **how much you want to show.**

## Your build matters less than you think

Swim briefs are supposed to sit on your hips and follow your natural shape. That doesn’t change because you’re lean, muscular, thick, or somewhere in between.

What does change is how much coverage you want.

Some guys want more leg and more cheek. Others want a little more fabric through the seat. Neither is better. It’s just a different look.

**Choose the cut that feels like you.**

## Pick your coverage

If you want…

Try…

Why

**The least fabric and maximum leg**

**The Essential**

Our cheekier cut with a streamlined fit and plenty of leg.

**A little more coverage**

**The Statement**

Fuller through the seat while keeping that low-rise Seaman Swim look.

**Room for strong thighs & glutes**

**Either**

Both cuts are designed to sit above the thigh and move with you.

**Your first swim brief**

**The Statement**

A little more coverage can make the transition into briefs feel easy.

**Something people will notice**

**The Essential**

Cheeky, confident, and definitely not trying to blend in.

## The Essential

**Low rise. Contoured. Cheeky.**

The Essential is for guys who like their swimwear minimal and their tan lines even more minimal.

Fully lined front and back, with a streamlined cut that shows more leg and more cheek.

It comes in four solid colors:

**Arctic Blue · Sage · Mustard · Clay**

## The Statement

**Low rise. Contoured. A little more coverage. A lot more color.**

The Statement keeps the same low-rise fit but gives you a fuller cut through the seat.

Then we turned up the color with four ombré finishes:

**Gray · Blue · Green · Red**

Same attitude. Different amount of coverage.

## What about sizing?

Both the Essential and Statement run **S–XL** and are designed to sit on your hips, not your waist.

If you’re between sizes, we recommend going with the **smaller size**. A swim brief should feel secure without feeling tight.

And yes, the fabric is supposed to follow your shape. That’s kind of the point.

## Still deciding?

**Can I wear a Seaman Swim brief if I have a bigger build?**
Absolutely. Swim briefs aren’t reserved for one particular body type. The low-rise fit sits on your hips, while the leg opening follows the natural crease between your hip and thigh. If you prefer more coverage through the seat, go with the Statement.

**What works best for muscular thighs?**
Both. The Essential and Statement are designed to sit above the thigh rather than cutting across it, giving your legs room to move.

**What’s the difference between the Essential and Statement?**
Mostly coverage and color. The Essential is our cheekier cut and comes in four solid colors. The Statement has a fuller seat and comes in four ombré colorways. Both are low rise, contoured, fully lined, and $79.95.

**Should I size up?**
If you’re between sizes, we recommend the smaller size. A swim brief should stay where you put it.

**How many colors are available?**
Eight total. Essential: Arctic Blue, Sage, Mustard, Clay. Statement: Gray, Blue, Green, Red.

## The bottom line

There’s no “right” body for a swim brief.

There’s just the brief you feel best wearing.

**Want more cheek? Go Essential.
Want a little more coverage? Go Statement.
Want both? We won’t judge.**
